Vertigo

Vertigo is more than just feeling dizzy—it’s a spinning or unsteady sensation that can make standing, walking, or even sitting uncomfortable and unsafe. Physical therapy can help identify the cause of vertigo, reduce symptoms, and restore your balance so you can move with confidence.

What is Vertigo

Vertigo is a condition that affects your sense of balance, often caused by issues in the inner ear (vestibular system) or nervous system. It can occur suddenly or gradually, and may be accompanied by nausea, unsteadiness, or difficulty focusing.

Common symptoms include:

  • Spinning or swaying sensations
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Loss of balance or unsteadiness
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Difficulty walking or standing
  • Sensitivity to movement or head position

Conditions We Treat

Our clinic provides treatment for a variety of vertigo and vestibular disorders, including:

  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
  • Vestibular neuritis or labyrinthitis
  • Post-concussion dizziness
  • Inner ear dysfunction
  • Balance issues related to neurological conditions
  • Chronic dizziness or motion sensitivity

How Physical Therapy Helps

Vestibular and vertigo-focused physical therapy retrains the brain and nervous system to process balance signals correctly. After a thorough evaluation, your licensed therapist develops a personalized treatment plan designed to reduce dizziness, improve balance, and restore confidence.

Treatment may include:

  • Canalith repositioning maneuvers (for BPPV)
  • Gaze stabilization exercises
  • Balance and coordination training
  • Habituation exercises to reduce dizziness
  • Postural and movement retraining
  • Education on symptom management and fall prevention

Our Approach

As a small clinic, we provide integrity-driven care, ensuring all treatment is delivered by licensed professionals using state-of-the-art equipment and evidence-based techniques. We focus on helping you regain stability, reduce symptoms, and improve your quality of life.

When Should You Seek Care?

You may benefit from vestibular or vertigo therapy if you:

  • Experience spinning or dizziness that affects daily life
  • Feel unsteady when walking or standing
  • Avoid activities due to fear of vertigo
  • Have balance issues following a concussion, illness, or inner ear problem

Early treatment often leads to faster relief and improved outcomes.
